Joint inflammation is generally referred to as arthritis. The most prevalent kind of arthritis is osteoarthritis. It typically affects the hands, knees, and hips and is frequently brought on by age.

Genicular Artery Embolization

In order to block the genicular artery, a tiny catheter is inserted either through a channel in the wrist or a tiny hole in the groin. The catheter is positioned in the genicular artery branches (vessels delivering blood flow to the knee joint) using specialist imaging equipment and shut off with tiny medicinal beads, which reduces joint inflammation. The entire surgery is outpatient and lasts around an hour.

Several studies have shown that genicular artery embolization (GAE) reduces pain and improves function for the majority of treated patients with knee osteoarthritis.
